Forget about it and do this instead.

Crazy times we live in right now, but we all need to remember this is temporary and it will soon pass.

If you’re in sales or marketing, chances are you’re reading this from your home with high anxiety on what the future holds in the chaotic time.

However, now is a time when you can shine. Now is the time to position yourself for a dramatic change when things do turn around.

Positioning Yourself for Success

Most high achievers agree it’s times like this when you can make profound advancements in one’s career while others recede and become irrelevant.

Let’s be honest, the likelihood of you making a sale in this current climate is unlikely unless your product or service can help or solve a problem of your prospect right now.

Industries like travel, luxury or hospitality have been hit especially hard and demand for goods and services is flat.

You may need to come to the reality a sale in this current climate is slim to none.

So, forget about it. There’s nothing you can do about it, so why not shift your focus on something you can change. Instead of stalling out, focus on positioning yourself for massive growth when things are rocking again.

Even before this crisis, the role of the sales professional was in jeopardy and this is only going to accelerate the transformation.

FACT. According to Forrester, as much as 74% of B2B sales jobs could be eliminated over the next 2 years. The only segment poised for growth is the trusted-advisor, those who can offer true value aside from just a low rate.

The key to long-term success is about developing purposeful relationships with a niche audience. And there is NO better time to begin this process using an empathy-based approach.

If we were to tell you that your LinkedIn profile was your number one asset, would you believe us? The fact of the matter is, in an age of digital distraction, finding a human connection is more important than ever. You’re not just selling amenities, you’re selling YOU and LinkedIn is the one location where prospects can learn all about you.

The first thing that someone does when they want to learn more about someone they want to work with is Google their name. Did you know that a LinkedIn profile shows up at the top of the search results? LinkedIn is often the very first online impression a prospect will have of you. That’s why it’s gotta rock!

Is your profile set up to make a positive lasting impression?

More on what that strategy is here….

Quick-Start LinkedIn Strategy

OPTIMIZATION

  • Make sure your Linkedin profile includes a hero and an inset photo.
  • Change your title from sales to something more focused on your audience (solving problems and adding value).
  • About section should focus on helping your prospects solve their problems with your solutions (add relevant hashtags at bottom to increase search). Make it about your audience and NOT about you.
  • Include as much content as possible to increase engagement and search.

ENGAGEMENT

  • Post or comment on a popular post at least three times a week.
  • Use the content from your property blog as the best source for your content. Create your own post copy for personalized value-add.
  • Subscribe to the hospitality sites to get access to relevant content (repost with individual comments).
  • Comment on posts with a lot of likes and comments. Encourage dialog.
  • Add your specific insights without being salesy.
